The most convenient and possibly best way to get to Krakow from Western Europe is by plane to Krakow Airport. The airport serves most Western European capitals, as well as a handfull of cities in the United Kingdom. You may find that the fares or times at other airport in Poland suit you better, particularily in Warsaw. Details about the transfer from these airports is listed below.

Kraków
John Paul II Airport is located in a suburb of Kraków, approximately 20 minute drive away from the city center. It has a direct train and bus connection to Kraków Central station.

Warsaw
Warsaw is served by two airports: Chopin Airport, which is the main airport for Warsaw, and Modlin Airport, which serves a number of cheep airlines and is around one hour North of Warsaw. Both airports have connections to Warsaw Central station (Warszawa Centralna) and Warsaw West station (Warszawa Zachodnia), where there is an hourly high speed train from Warsaw central station to Krakow that takes less than 2h30m. Chopin Airport has a direct urban rail (SKM) connection. Modlin has a route to Warsaw city center (10 minute walk away from Central Station), or a suburban rail connection to Warsaw Central that requires a short hop on a bus in Modlin.

Modlin - Warsaw40 - 60 minutes
Train: 19 PLN Bus: from 9 PLN advanced booking There are ticket terminals and information about the train. There is a bus to the train station every 20-30 minutes which is included in the price of the rail ticket. There is no advanced booking. More detail Modlinbus has an hourly service to Warsaw city center that takes 40-50 minutes. You can book 3 months in advanced, and almost all tickets booked 1 month or more in advance cost 9 PLN.
